Real Madrid planning to get Mbappe this January
Real Madrid presses on now than ever
Marca has reported that Real Madrid has made an offer of €50m for Kylian Mbappe. The Spanish giants, currently occupying the pinnacle of the domestic league table, are looking to add firepower to their attacking force after seeing the likes of Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale being redundant and lacking playing time respectively.
The French striker has been on the radar of the Spanish giants for a while now. Mbappe had been previously linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain on several occasions, which the most talked-about destination has been the Santiago Bernabeu. According to Marca, Giovanni Branchini always has his ear to the ground when it comes to the transfer market and he has claimed that Real Madrid has made a new offer to Paris Saint-Germain for Kylian Mbappe.
What the bid was and is now
Real Madrid’s bid of €180m was rejected in the last summer transfer window. A returned bid of €50m can only mean that they want their long-term target earlier than he eventually runs out of contract in June.
The striker has just six months left on his contract and could join Real Madrid for free in the summer, but Branchini claims that Los Blancos want to acquire their long-time target earlier than that.
“It depends on PSG now, as Real Madrid have gone back in for Mbappe by offering 50m euros a few days ago,” Branchini told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“I don’t know how this will play out. It seems to me that this move from Florentino Perez is worth watching closely.
“It would be a shame for a player like Mbappe to move for free in the summer. I don’t know what they think about this in Paris.”
Should PSG allow the deal now?
However, it would be pointless for PSG to let go of Mbappe now if they could hold on tight to him in the summer transfer window. Moreover, the two teams have been drawn against each other in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
The departure of Mbappe to join the Los Blancos side means that he will be in the Madrid white facing his current club in a few weeks. Whether the Paris owners would let Mbappe leave at this very moment is a thing that has so many strings attached to it. Should the French forward remain, he would leave on a free transfer in the summer. On the flip side, var247 understands that they (PSG) stand the risk of being faced by their goal poacher in the double-header UEFA Champions League round 16.
It will rather be a big shame for the French giants to see a big player like Mbappe leave for free.
Mbappe exploits in the champions league this season has seen him named as the youngest player to reach 30 goals tally in the league. This puts him ahead of icons like a former Barcelona star, Samuel Eto, and his current teammate, Lionel Messi.
