Ralf Rangnick admits that Manchester United are behind rivals

Ralf Rangnick has openly admitted that Manchester United are currently behind their rivals in the English top flight. When interviewed on Friday with respect to the game against Manchester City on Sunday, he was quick to make his opinion about the dominance of Liverpool and Manchester City known.

In the interview, he was asked that as a club, does he think he is positioned to get close to Manchester City in terms of structure.

In his response, he said,

To be honest, I haven’t thought about that, actually. I don’t know the structure at Manchester City. I know most of the people in my club. My focus was, and still is, developing the current team and getting the best out of this season.

Where Manchester United stands compared to Manchester City

Manchester United can be said to be solely depending on the past glory left by Sir. Alex Ferguson. The greatest coach in the history iof the club won everything that there was to win with the club, winning also, most of the trophies in the cabinet of the Red Devils.

However, after his departure, the club has hardly had a smooth season. For the records, the club is yet to win the most prestigious trophy in England, the Premier League. This was consequenced upon the changes in managers at the club. After the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, the club has changed manager almost more than any other big club in football. The list are the managers that Manchester United has parted ways with before the appointment of Ralf Rangnick:

Managers after Sir. Alex Ferguson

However, their major rival, Manchester City has had to change manager twice in almost the same time Sir Ferguson left the club as manager. They departed with Manuel Pallegrini in 2016 after he had spent three years with the club. After then, Pep Guardiola joined from Bayern Munich upon several successful records. Manchester City has since retained the manager. Continuity has not been lacking and the administrative structure of the club has been more stable than any other team in England, if not in the world. To further prove this fact, the German manager said,

What is obvious, not only with City but with Liverpool is continuity and consistency on the position of their manager (their head coach), for five or six years. They have a very clear identity, clear idea of how they want to play.

…..I know Pep, he also has cleare idea of how he want to play and, this idea is the headline for everything that happen in the club; for recruitment, for any new player that they sign, and even for the players that they at one stage will sell. This is what I think is the secret behind their success

The interview

He further added that they exactly know how the want to play. Watch the interview on Sky Sport handle on twitter below.
