Bruno ‘not the same player’ with Ronaldo at Man United
When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was relieved of his duty as the gaffer of Man United, life at Manchester United seemed to have taken shape. The announcement of Ralf Ragnick as the new boss at Old Trafford caused both fans and players of the club to be extremely happy. The German boss, known for his fast-paced style of play was expected to restore sanity to the team by importing his style of play.
Ragnick, known as the German football godfather showed a glimpse of what is obtainable at his inception. All of a sudden, the club began to quickly drift back into its shadow. Former Manchester United striker, Andy Cole also claimed that Bruno Fernqandea has never been the same player since the arrival of his compatriot in a statement on Sky Sport. He said on Sky Sport,
“It’s been funny at the moment. Ronaldo’s come back and it’s like [Bruno’s] whole game has changed,” the former striker told Premier League Productions.
“I looked at him this season since Ronaldo’s come back and he hasn’t been the same player he was last season.
“And you look at that and think – why? He has the quality, he shouldn’t worry about whether Ronaldo’s in the team because they’re both quality players who want the same thing.
“But his form has changed since Ronaldo has come back.”
Bruno Fernandez and Ronaldo’s rivalry
So many questions were asked and yet to be answered is the relationship between Bruno Fernandez and Cristiano Ronaldo. When the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was signed in the summer transfer window, Manchester United fans’ and board’s hope was very high. We scooped that the return to the glorious days was the song that was sung on the street of Manchester and every nation around the world that is infested with Manchester United fans. It was believed that the combination of the two Portugal internationals would be a cause to worry over for any team that will be facing the Red Devils.
Disappointedly, the reverse is the case. Although, at first, things looked like they were going the way of the pundits and the fans. After Ronaldo found the back of the net on several occasions consecutively, his compatriot conspicuously drifted into oblivion. The star attacking mid-fielder literarily lost his feet.
Before there was CR7
Before the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, Bruno Fernandez’s efforts in the last season almost made Manchester United clinch the league title. He had almost as many goals as assists. Bruno has scored five and assisted nine in 24 appearances this season. The attacking midfielder managed 40 goals and 25 assists in his 80 matches before this term.
Although he is an attacking midfielder, he scored more goals than most strikers in England, which made him clinch the best player award for his club. The addition of Ronaldo has seen him produce an inverted performance of what he produced two seasons before now. He was technically involved in any good thing that happened in front of goal for the Red Devil.
Where’s Bruno’s spotlight?
However, life with CR7 at Old Trafford has spiked up the dust of resentment. Bruno is not happy as the spotlight has been stolen from him by Portugal’s all-time greatest player. This has drastically hampered his performance and has seen him drop to the bench in recent times. Although Ronaldo has provided a considerable number of goals for Manchester United this season, the lack of synergy between the duo has cost Manchester United a lot. Arguably, the club’s form is reasonable, but by the time one looks at the position of their rivals (Manchester City and Liverpool) and the points between them, it will never be far-fetched that Manchester United is far behind expectation.
Barca on the watch
Amidst the unrest at Manchester United, Spanish giants, Barcelona have been monitoring the situation and have consequently made contact with Bruno Fernandez with the hope to snap up the Portuguese attacking mid-fielder in the next summer transfer window. One may be prompted to think that it is not a possible deal as Barcelona is looking for strikers to fill the void left behind by Lionel Messi, and Sergio Aguero, but then the coach of the Catalan giant has not been tight-lipped about his admiration for the attacking midfielder. Should the deal for Erling Harland fall through, the next option for Barcelona will be Bruno Fernandez According to Caughtoffside.
