Bernd Leno is a German goalkeeper who plays his professional football dir Premier League side, Arsenal. He was born in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany on 4th April, 1992.
He started his football career as a rookie with SV Germania Bietigheim, where he spent five years between 1998 and 2003 before moving to VfB Stuttgart. He was with the youth team for six years and was later promoted to the senior team in 2009. He didn’t have it nice with the senior team as he was frequently on the bench before he was being loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen in 2011, where he was later retained as the first choice goalkeeper for seven years.
He played a total of 233 matches for the German side between 2011 and 2018. In the summer of 2018, Bernd Leno caught the eyes of the England giant club side. He was signed as a permanent replacement for the ageing veteran shot-stopper, Peter Cech.
After much patience and hard work, he soon became the top choice goalkeeper for Arsenal, wearing jersey number 1. He has so far made well above one hundred (100) appearances for the Gunners, and he has been a key component of Mikel Arteta restructuring agenda.
